Two even coordinate sums
Choose 3, 4 or 5 hazards on a 4×4 board. Number rows and columns from 0 to 3, top to bottom and left to right. Add the row indices of all hazards and, separately, their column indices. Both sums must be even. Individual indices need not be even, and this does not require an even hazard count in every row or column. All 140, 476 or 1092 legal layouts respectively are equally likely; one stays fixed throughout the round.
Expected return
Exact expected return is 97% for permitted stopping policies. The initial 3% reduction is applied once; conditional safe-branch compensation preserves expectation. Choosing coordinates or stopping changes risk and variance, not this expectation. A short session is not guaranteed to match it.

What are the coordinate sum rules?
Choose 3, 4 or 5 hazards on a 4×4 board. Number rows and columns from 0 to 3, top to bottom and left to right. Add the row indices of all hazards and, separately, their column indices. Both sums must be even. Individual indices need not be even, and this does not require an even hazard count in every row or column. All 140, 476 or 1092 legal layouts respectively are equally likely; one stays fixed throughout the round.
How is value calculated?
Live value starts at 0.97 times the virtual stake. A safe reveal divides it by that cell’s exact conditional safe probability among the remaining compatible legal layouts. A hazard ends the round with zero return. Reveals change knowledge, not the hidden layout.
Which coordinate example is legal?
With 3 hazards, A1,A2,A4 has row-index sum 0 and column-index sum 0+1+3=4, so it is legal. A1,A2,A3 has column sum 3, so it is illegal. Sum parity constrains the complete layout; visible coordinates do not show whether a particular cell is hazardous.
When can I collect?
Collect is available after a safe reveal. Proven hazards are unavailable; proven-safe cells have probability 1 and add no value. A choice with next value above 1000 times stake is unavailable. When no eligible uncertain choice remains, the current value is banked automatically. The guard is not a promise that 1000×stake can be reached.
